Sacramento State Winter Ensemble will be starting up on Monday November 30th from 6 to 9, just a week after our final fall performance at Fairfield high school. We had an amazing turnout for the fall line maxing out our battery at 8 snares, 4 tenors, 6 basses and a very talented 7 in our pit percussion. Also, can't forget our all new battery!

Numbers for the winter will be 8 snares, 4 tenors, 6 basses and 14 in the pit percussion. Also, we combine our guard so we will be looking for at least 20 color guard. If you have not seen a Sacramento State Winter Ensemble performance from years past, they vary greatly from year to year. As we are an exhibition only group, we are not held to the instrumental constraints of a WGI group. We generally have a combined winter guard and drumline and sometimes have a hornline. The tentative plan is to have a small amplified string ensemble of 4-5 string players. Tentatively planning to play music from the band TOOL. This will be an unthemed show with aggressive music and drill that will perform to both sides of the gym; sometimes at the same time.

This ensemble is open to the public to join. You do not have to be a student at Sac State or a student at all. If you are marching percussion or guard person who just plain wants to march and have fun... this ensemble is for you! The only issue with membership is we do not accept high school students who have high school programs and choose not to do their program for this one. We do not want to take away from any school programs.

This format makes for a very fun, exciting and unique experience without the pressure to please judges. This ensemble is all about performing and entertaining audiences with minimal time commitment and NO financial obligation from the members. Regular rehearsals will be Monday and Wednesday nights from 6-9 at Capistrano Hall on the campus at Sacramento State. Friday nights will be added before performances and as needed from time to time through out the season (6-?). We will perform at 2-3 NCBA competitions before awards (including champs) and tentatively at 1-2 CCGC competitions.
