If you don't want to take the time to understand the implications of what I posted in relation to your "Taken it to heart to march only one snare" comment then I'm not going to take the time to explain it to you.

I was not privy to that knowledge. I don't know who you are.
Psalm 56 wrote: Including why you oppose the idea of a host giving a first and/or second place trophy per division for percussion.
I am not for or against anything here, please dont assume so much.

As you know (or may not know ^.-), I am not currently working with any NCBA groups so I am simply looking at all the divisions (as you are).

Psalm 56, it seems you thought I was trying to attack or appose your suggestion, Im not. I was just trying to have some conversation that didn't involve recruitment for an independent drumline.

Don't know how the quote from the NCBA WEBSITE has to do with what I wrote - suggestion that site hosts give a first and/or second place percussion trophy for each division for percussion oppose to the top six OVERALL. But, I am sure you will explain that to me.
Let me attempt to make my point. 16 awards for auxiliary and six for percussion "ENSEMBLES??????" Just an idea that an award for each division would be nice. WHY? To give those smaller schools / bands an opportunity to receive a trophy for their work. So, since you have knowledge/facts --- when was it the last time an NCBA percussion "ensemble" for the "E" Division won a trophy out of some 31 drum lines..let alone a top three finish?

As you know I am not at a Division E School...so I am simply looking at all the divisions. Looking forward to your research and response. Including why you oppose the idea of a host giving a first and/or second place trophy per division for percussion.
Because there are not that many band reviews that go down to Division E, I will use the example of this year's Santa Cruz Band Review; it went to Division/Class D. Looking at the percussion scores it loooks like Livingston, in Class D, took 5th place; and by the way, Livingston percussion also took 3rd place at Antioch; also being in the smallest of the school divisions. Livingston is an example of a small school doing something right and I have a feeling we are going to be hearing their name many times this year. Keep up the good work!!!

Another example, although not in the smallest school divsion, but the second to the smallest, is Jesse Bethel. At Santa Cruz they placed 1st, and they are a much heard from and placing group, yet they are not from one of the larger schools; but this is a name that is heard at many awards ceremonies.

I didn't have to go very far back to find these examples. They are from this year.
No ... you didn't need to go far to let us know that there are indeed some schools in the smaller divisions doing well (got it)...but again...I will attempt to make my point which you did not adress...there were thirty one percussion groups and six places for percussion...there were 38 auxiliary groups and 16 trophies. Look for a thread on this topic because as with other topics....a tangent has occurred.
Well, actually Psalm 56, I gave my opinion about number of trophies several days ago. I think giving out that many caption trophies would be given just to make groups feel good about themselves. I think it takes away from the competition. If you look down several posts after your first post, I commented there.

The only reason I brought up about Livingston and Jesse Bethel's placings is that you asked the question, "when was it the last time an NCBA percussion "ensemble" for the "E" Division won a trophy out of some 31 drum lines..let alone a top three finish?"; I was giving you examples. Quite frankly, I don't see where a tangent has occurred because I was simply responding to your post about your thoughts on trophies and small school perc groups. Have a nice day.

I guess because I didn't read...I agree with your thought that there is a sense of imbalance of number of trophies given to auxiliary units compared to percussion...sent me to the conclusion you were content with the way the percussion trophies were handled in comparison to the auxiliary trophies.

I would like to see parades award the auxiliary units by division AND the percussion be awarded within their divisions. I do appreciate slaphappy7's response .

I am still breathing. It's all good. By the way my name is Paul D. Everts. Looking forward to meeting you...maybe at Foothill.

To vote...attend the meetings...say NO to proxy voting. Just an idea.

For Mallet Queen
I can agree with your too many trophies take away from competition!! Yet, at many band reviews, parade percussion is the only group that competes against all groups. Auxiliary - by division. Band - by division. Drum Major (of course some one might add) - by classification. Percussion - all groups compete against one other. I would like to recommend that Percussion be able to compete within its division with a SWEEPSTAKES trophy for the highest overall score. Just want to have my opinion be clear. When I read the responses, I am not or missing reading a response related to this idea.

To Voteā€¦Attend the meetingā€¦.say NO to proxy voting!! Just an idea.

Well... if the old saying is true "you're only as good as your last show..until champs"

Bethel is the line to beat. IIRC Benicia and Fairfield were not @ Santa Cruz (was Vallejo?) So this could be an interesting show

<ultrahijack>
on the WBA side has anyone cheked out Homestead yet? OMFG!!! What a FREGGIN LINE!!!!
