Personally I’m ready for a newcomer or even a dark horse to come up and snag the title

Oh and FYI – Hogan is going CCGC/WGI next year as a PIA so that’s a no go.

I wonder if any other Open (or Scholastic) line is thinking of or possibly leaving NCBA...

I doubt it. NCBA is convenient in terms of budget. For a majority of the Open/Scholastic schools, it accomodates both their guard and percussion at all events and can "almost" always find a show close to home. Scheduling is another... NCBA hosts so many shows that there is always a show going on every week from the time winter season begins to when it ends vs. CCGC/WGI where there aren't shows hosted locally every weekend. Anyways, just my opinion. :)

Mystery wrote:Just thought it'd be interesting to post past NCBA champs over the years...This is from a post by Brian Aguilar. Since it takes some digging to find it I figured I'd repost it here. I take no credit for this except for general knowledge of some show titles of the past couple years.

NCBA Open Percussion Champs Title History

Champ Tallies:
Armijo - 1
Sacramento - 4 (Including the tie)
Hogan - 2
Vallejo - 4

Looks like there hasn't been a three-peat since 2001 (Vallejo)
I'm such a loser, I think I want to fill in at least some of those gaps!

I'm pretty sure Brian can fill in a couple more of those gaps since he was with Sacramento High in the early 90s and with them the year Fairfield and Sacramento tied for the title.

It's funny, I have all these videos in my library and I haven't pulled out any passed 2005 in a while. I actually have videos from 1997/1998, and I wasn't even in middle school at that time, let alone known that the art had existed. Maybe if I have time in the next week I'll post them up since I didn't record all season long.

On a side note, I was in Vallejo's line when Tyler was working with John Zarco in 2003. That was definitely a fun year. :yeah:
