NCBA is.......

Post by CleanBeatsNow » Wed Mar 11, 2009 10:44 pm

kind of boring....im not dissing the circuit, but everything is the same....in wgi and dci, the question is always "Whats next?" Every year in NCBA the question is "whose gunna win?" I dont care who wins anymore, I wanna see something new...All the shows are just the same, anyone agree?

ummmm that doesnt mean theyre innovative....that just meant that they their show was good enough for a certain score...like I just said, I dont care who WINS ( thats your point with the scores ) i want something to impress me, something different..

Wow... I think we really need to understand that the schools that are in NCBA while maybe not the same calibur as alot of the world division units in WGI are good in their own right. And the innovation category is actually only judged in the world division in WGI. Obviously none of the schools in NCBA have the money or design to hang in that division as of yet, but them and their staffs do try pretty hard to get their units to the levels that they are at so please watch what you say when you belittle an entire circuit. Please remember Logan got their start in NCBA as well so before you start hating remember everyone starts somewhere.
Looking forward to seein some lines turn it up this year...

You should check out the WGI sheets. Every class has a chance to get points for creativity & imagination. There is no secret category for innovative shows in World...lol

Wasn't box 6 a world class only thing for a while? Im not honestly sure if its still that same way but I know box 6 was originally included only in World sheets to give credit to those groups that pushed the activity in a new direction. (Couldnt find 2009 sheets online)

I think it was but now, box six in A or Open represents ready for the next level. Makes it easier to justify bumping units up IMO.

Man this is kind of hardcore to say don’t you think? Then you say you’re not dissing the circuit? :shock2: You should have given it a different title then cause you’re kind of stepping on people’s toes when you say something like that. There are a lot of good instructors in the circuit from all over the place DCI, WGI, CCGC, SVJCRPR and these guys and girls have done some great things. Yea I’m sure there are still some great ideas and things to come that are yet to be thought of, but honestly there really is only so much you can to when your timed and you don’t want to take away from the basic principle which is the music. I’m just saying yea a good show design is cool, but I personally just want to hear some beats.

As for the question "Whose gunna win?" Isn't that the same question asked every year in every circuit?

“All the shows are just the same?” Well YEA…. most Guard and Drum lines and a high school level and I’m sure in lower DCI and WGI levels they doing what WGI Div I and DCI Div I have done the in years past….you’re not going to find something to often that wasn’t done by someone else at one point or another and I’m sure many will agree there isn’t anything wrong with that. Cause most of the time there is a twist to make it different and that’s where you will find “What’s Next”.

Not getting all crazy just saying maybe you should have thought a little more before posting NCBA is kind of boring. :sarg:

I really don't get the point of why this topic was brought up. Those groups that are being innovative hire people to think of those idea's, and they pay them a good amount of money at that. That's something that most of the NCBA lines cannot do (some lines only have 2 instructors at that.)
