I think Logan is amazing, but i dont think making another division would do anything at all.. i mean, theyd do just as well as they do now
but i would like to see them compete with NL and Fantasia.. that would be interesting..

I totally agree with gh3ttogirly. Although I doubt this would ever happen but I think it would be intersting to see Logan compete in the Indepdent World division. I know they are with a school but at Championships I noticed that the scores between them and the top Indepdent World guards were relativly close. I think it would kinda cool to see how they would do competing against Fantasia and Northern Lights.
I agree that it would be interesting for the fact of the challenge. As far as scores go... with each individual class... the scoring system changes a bit so there scores being close isn't even a factor. It's a different "curriculum" (sorry for the loss of a better word) between Independant and Scholastic. James Logan World Guard are a bunch of amazingly talented people and I think they're good where they're at because all those Logan graduates who are serious about colorguard go on to independant guards for example.. Rafael an '03 Logan graduate is now the youngest male on the San jose Raiders World rifle line. IMPRESSIVE! Recent 02 Beyer graduate Ryan Tiscareno is also in San Jose Raiders World guard competitively on the sabre and rifle lines the past 2 years! So the thought of making a new class is absurd. LoL I mean hey... obviously, judging from independant world... every guard has its turn in the limelight. James Logan is just stretching it out a bit. LoL I mean Blue Devils World went crazy with gold medals back in the 90's and then.. they hit rock bottom and folded the world guard. As far as competition... Avon will most def give Logan a run for their money in years to come but congrats to both groups! Randy you're amazing you're my inspiration!!! Prom? Can't wait!

Hmmmm...like everyone else has said, Logan will probably win no matter what. But who cares? They are the s***. No one can deny that. These kids are freaking amazing. I would kill to be that good at a high school level. These kids probably don't have lives because they are practicing all the time. They work their a**es off to be that good. Why do people get upset when they win? At finals last weekend, their performance gave me the chills. I can't say that about any other sw guard. I got the chills during Aimachi too (soooo good!!!!). Anywho, the moral of the story is Logan works hard to win and shouldn't be criticized for it .
yes that is true logan probably will win no matter what, but to make it fair for everyone else to have a chance to win then they should make a new division. i also never said that logan wasnt good because they are, but so are alot of other guards out there. i also never got mad that they won, they should have won, but so do other guards. i also never criticized them for winning but when a group gets a 95 or higher at championships they move up a division, so they should come up with other divisions so others have a chance to win.

most guards work hard. but the thing is, some guards just do better than others. my comment was not meant to say that other guards dont work hard. i was just saying that, like other guards, Logan works hard and should not be penalized for this attitude

i dont think another class should be made i think that the other world guards should just work thier butts off to catch up to them i mean in wgi focus a few months back there was an article that talked about how they started from scratch and im amazed at how far they have come according to the article and i think that they just know how to work the floor the best. just because they are the best doesnt mean they shoule be placed in a new class.... they work for thier status just as kennesaw mountain im sure has worked for thiers but you dont see anyone criticizing them for thier 97.65. it just seems to me like people want to be the best but to be the best you have to compeate with the best.

i think the reason WGI has not made yet another class is because they feel like the other units in the Scholastic World class have the potential to pass Logan up...that's why they made it to the world class in the first place...they just have to find a way to step up to the challenge (which i'm sure they will.)

besides, they cant compete against themselves, and if they move to another division, they will either be lonely or they will beat everyone else, so it is the same problem

I know there awsome but most of them have been spinning since elementary school and there school is a performing arts school.
the elementary colorguard programs werent around back when any of the members of the james logan world guard were of age. what's more is that elementary students dont learn to spin, they learn to swing swing flags. all of the current members started in middle school. and james logan is definitely NOT a performing arts school because most people attending it dont even know what colorguard IS.
on the topic of the discussion, why should they be put into a new category just to let first place be handed on a silver platter to whatever group takes their place? thats not what competition is about. the other groups should just work harder if they want to kick logan off the top. logan has done it, so im sure other groups will be able to do the same if they want it bad enough.
i LOVE logan and i think they are on top because they deserve it!! in order to be on top, you need to deserve it, not just let it be handed to you. . .

its true. i've seen the elementary guards perform and its nothing more than swing flag type work... so technically, you cannot really attribute much to the elementary school, except for the fact that they are introduced to hand.flag coordination.

another thought. Logan wasn't always on top. Before 1998, they too were working their butts off to try to make it to the top. Now that they've made it there, they still continually work hard to try to stay on top. Now tell me, isn't that every guard's dream? to be the gold medalist? So because Logan had finally achieved their dream... they should be put into a separate class?

if anything, isnt Logan making the World Class even better? Aren't they encouraging all the other World Guards to work harder and beat them? And then collectively as a whole, doesnt that make the whole Winterguard program even better?

another thought. Logan cannot compete against the Independent guards. Those in the INdependent guards have been spinning for years and years on end. The most anyone in Logan could be spinning is 8 years... and that isn't 8 years at the World Guard level. The most of that is only 4. But regardless, high school's are put in scholastic classes cuz they have to school to worry about to. In addition to the countless hours of practices they have to continue to maintain their grades. Independent guards, on the other hand, dont have that to worry about.

well thats my two cents... or quarters worth.

p.s. i am a Logan fan. i enjoy watching them all the time. :D

:D I got to see Logan plenty of times and I also found out they had a special performance night with all the school districts guards and drum lines. And it's very true. The elementary school kids were using swing flags and curved rifles. I have met a couple of logan people and a lot of them began spinning from the sixth to eighth grade. And I also hear that there are people in the open guard that never spun until this year. Yet, they are still quite amazing. I would die to be in tha program.
