Ok, if you were at the North Park Middle School competition at Huntington Beach high school tonight(Marh27) and saw Mesa Independent, did you understand their show? I saw a girl TOO small to possibly be old enough...do independent guards have age limits? Maybe I'm just confused...my friends and I tried to figure it out, and all we could come up with was that she had some significance to their theme. Anyone know or have any other thoughts? 8-)

i don't believe independent groups have an age limit, but usually the youngest they go is about 8. if you've ever seen blue devils A guard or san jose raiders A guard you'll know what i mean.

I'm not exactly sure if im right or not but i think that there isnt an minium age limit on IA but i think the max is 21. But i know for sure theres no age limit on World Guards.

the only age requirement is that you can not be older that 22 in IA and IO. No age requirement for IW.

8 friggin years old?!?!

man that kid's got her high school career set out for her

are you sure she wasn't just short? I've got a friend who looks like he's in elementary school (and sometimes acts like it too) while he's in 10th grade.

Ya this girl was definitely not in high school all she did during the show was dance, and it looked like someone was giving her advice before she went on. I didn't even think she looked 8. Unless she was one of those child genuses she was not in high school.

The little girl performing is the daughter of the guard instructor (me) and just wanted to a be a part of her mommy's show. Tara is 7, has been around colorguard since she was born, dances competitively (with her studio) and loves to perform. Tara had been asking me all season if I would make her a costume like the "girls". She liked how it was so different from her dance costumes. I made her a costume and thought if would be fun for her to perform with the kids sometime. Tara always performs her dance pieces at the high schools spring shows and comes to so many guard rehearsals, she usually knows all their choreography just by being there. Last spring she even did an equipment piece with the guard at Costa Mesa HS. The guard members at MESA love Tara and jumped on the opportunity to have her be a part of their show for a special performance. Last night was the first time she was a part of the MESA show.

Thanks to all the members of Mesa Independent for putting a smile on Tara's face and her mommy's too!! :D :D She woke up this morning still talking about how much fun she had last night. Now, isn't that what this activity is all about??

p.s. Lucy...Tara says you too still have some "work" to do to get the tree parts "just right"...hahaha

How cute!!! The little girl was adorable!!! One of the girls in my guard was curious as to what the theme was though. Another guard said it was the blair witch project. True or false??? But anyways I thought the show was really good and the lil girl was adorable

That's cool that she could be a part of the show. Does she want to continue with colorguard in the future?

that is probably the cutest thing ever. I think it is wonderful that your daughter could be apart of the show. I wish I could have seen it. :(
