so you are telling me that we are here to impress you... A nobody with an opinion that makes no difference. Not Black Knights fault that Lealta is doing the same music. But in the two cases the two shows are completely different. Not Black Knights Fault that they impressed the judges enough to get first. Maybe you should let the rest know what guard you are from or the guard that you represent. Before you have your s**t straight maybe you should look at what reality is saying. The truth is that Black Knights rocks and you cant handle the truth!!!

Wow! This person is just giving their opinion!! I enjoy reading what other people think of the shows. Criticism can be constructive, you just can't take it so personally.

I agree with people giving their opinion and constructive critisism BUT there is always a way to do it. I don't think that it was expressed the right way. That's just my opinion.

I have not seen Black KNights since the eval show back in January; However, I can tell you that their show did have some major and minor issues to work out.

I can tell you that the work that is written for them is great. At times looks a little familiar to Lealta, but mostly because of their music. I think that there are more important issues. When I saw them in Jan. there were some major technique issues. This is an obvious problem that I am sure has been fixed by now. I found their show very hard to read due to the fact that every single layer was the main focus. Much "Visual Clutter," is created this way. Do not take these comments as hateful, rather constructive and detached. I belong to no guard and represent none as well.

My point is that we should not look so much towards similairity (although frustrating), but towards who does what they do the best.

I cant wait for Nationals, because at least then everyone will be over the non-sense, and will be sporting California pride. Isn't that funny how we bash people almost all season and then support them in the end. Seems kinda heartless and trite if you ask me.

So I guess Ill start my National hooplaah now. Good Luck to the Black Knights and everyone else in San Diego.

"so you are telling me that we are here to impress you... A nobody with an opinion that makes no difference"

Umm... the answer is yes. You are here to impress me, the audience. I don't belong to any guard, I am just a fan who pays $15 to watch the show.
I find it hard to believe that every time you step onto the floor you perform strictly for the judges. Colorguard is a competitive activity where scores & placement are important, however it is NOT the only reason we do this. As a past performer, there is nothing more exhilerating than crowd response. The rush you get from the AUDIENCE cheering/screaming etc.. is incredible. Therefore making my opinion as part of the audience important. It makes a difference.

I too see the similarities between BK & Lealta. I've been around CG for a while & have seen some of the drill & equipment work recycled. I know many guards & instructors that recylce. It is my opinion that it is more obvious with these two groups. I personally found the show design & content to be mediocre.

I'm sure that for every person that agrees with me, 10 more disagree. That is what is so great about individuality. We all have the opportunity to like & dislike & we get to talk about it on forums like these. If opinions from "nobody's" didn't matter, forums like these wouldn't exist.

just a thought..

Similarities are present and yes, it can be seen but it needs to also be said that every single guard around has similarities to other guards too. That can not be denied or overlooked. Both of these guards are very big supporters of each other....Lealta was(and still is) one of our biggest fans last year when we medaled. We were nothing short of appreciative of them when they cheered every minute of our show last year at finals when we were completely nervous about our WGI debut. Our instructor marched with many of the members and has worked with the instructors in the past there so I'm pretty sure that a couple of ideas are alike but that in no way says that it's identical to each other. Both guards have presented two different interpretations to unfortunately, the same soundtrack. The different ideas that have been shown should be looked at and not the ridiculous fact that the staff liked the same cd...we should all love the sport because it allows us to perform our impressions of a piece of music whether it's same as another team or not...that's what i love about the sport..I don't hate or judge a team because songs are the same...it's better to look past that and appreciate the sport.

Ok, so I said something "bad" about your CG. Wow do you need to grow up.
Guess what, if you look, I give my opinion on all your competitor also. and I was more rough on most of them.
I also didn't mention the fact that BK and Lealta did the same music. I know those things happen. I'm talking about the work and drill looking the same.

I almost didn't say anything about BK because I've seen how they responded to this in the past. and guess what, once again you show us all the lack of class and knowage you have.

As you can see by the other responses to YOUR post, I'm not alone

not bad

I feel that there is a way to go around this subject. I feel that cbkg0304 expressed an opinion based on how you would feel if you read somthing negative about your guard that you were in. Maybe the subject should have been said different. anyways i love bk and the rest of the groups i feel that everyone spends a lot of hard work in making a show a show so there is no sucky groups. everyone is wonderful

love you all

i agree

yes i agree that bk and the rest of the groups put 110% into their shows so criticizing a show based on similarities is kind of harsh. i believe that each group is unique in their own way. You go lealta!! Go Black knights rock your show, i love it

but everyone is to deserve an applause for their hard work.
YAY!!

Good luck to everyone

ps. Go BK!!

I stand firm in the knowledge that color guard is one of the most fufilling activities for people today wheter your role is an Instructor, judge, performer, parent or fan..we are all affected by the activity in diffrent ways....I personally feel no one in this forum should critique any unit in a non-constructive way. That does not reflect the positive life expierences that color guard provides for its members. Each unit is unique in its own way and that is what is so great about going to shows! To see the diffrences of artistic expression each unit offers to the audience. Even though Black knights and lealta may be usuing some of the same music the shows are unique from each other...besides techincal aspects, drill or equipment work their shows are completley diffrent..look at the color scheme or costumes Very diffrent and most importantly the members. I bet there is not one person from black knights that is marching lealta. Also they are not the same because the individuality of the performers offer a diffrent show as well. So I say great Job to ALL performers this weekend You defintley earned my applause and guarenteed you will have it at finals as well :D

Ok... I really do think it is great to hear people's opinions on shows, but once again there is a proper way of expressing opinions... I mean saying something like:

"Black Knights: Lealta? Please do something new. "

That was down right RUDE... Yes I said it RUDE!!! I mean why can't any of you look at shows as to what they have been good for? Seriously.... if you are that ingorant as to say that BK and Lealta's shows are the same show and have the same drill design and such then you Very Obviously didn't pay much attention to the details now did you? Or for that matter don't care because I, as well as many others find that there are HATERS in this forum... It's getting to the point where it isn't constructive criticism anymore! I mean put yourself in our shoes... would you want to hear a bunch of amatures knocking your show, or saying that you "Copied" another team... it sucks!!! Especially because BK and Lealta are two very different and Very tallented orginazations, that have come a long way in such a short amount of time! We love opinions as long as they hold relevance... once again, if you are going to post something, you better make sure that you can defend what you say, because I can gaurantee that you have not learned either one of the shows to be saying that they are similiar, so until you are ready to be more specific and prove your point to be relevant, I suggest you don't try to make your silly points anymore. Besides we still don't know who you are or where you are from... I'm sure people could be knocking you just as well... but you see we have class, we're not going to knock anyones shows or teams... we have done nothing in these forums but defend ourselves and frankly, I think that both Lealta and BK proved and defended ourselves at the Regional, HELL we have the scores to prove it!!! BK and Lealta will continue to work hard and support eachother despite what anyone says or thinks. And I being part of BK happen to really like Lealta's show, it's TOTALLY different, Hello they have a complete Matrix theme and we have nothing to do with the Matrix, it's kind of COOL to see the same soundtrack used different, both musically and expressively. I can just hope that you can see that also!

Please start being more positive... and remember that we are in it for the judges first... I mean I love to perform to you as well, but they are the ones that give out the scores right? And you can bet your asses that I will be out there workin it for you as long as you're giving me something to feed off of (Not Negativity)!

Good luck to everyone this season... there are some really GREAT shows out there and I hope to see more! Have fun and never forget why we love the sport as much as we do!!!

Thanks for the positive outlook "SKIPPY" and the applause, hehe :wav:

Get it LEALTA and BK... You rock!!!

I don't do it for the judges or the audience, I do it for me, my guard and my friends that come to see me. Guard is about fun for me, I wanna be good and I wanna win but I just wanna have fun, too!

Oh and BK made me sad... one of the boys on their guard had better legs than me   and I felt like I failed as a girl, cause my legs are like the only girly dainty thing about me. :P :D

Yes you may not be alone on your opinion but I agree more with the way split5050 put it than the way your opinion was put. I am not saying this on just the behalf of our guard but also on all the other guards that you commented on. For example: "Blue Devils: George is great, but after that???" That is very harsh. What is constructive about that. So you may not like BD's show, but why put your opinion in such a harsh way??? Is it really necessary? I agree also with appleaday04 in the sense that a group doesn't deserve to be bashed if they are working just as hard as everyone else. It's like doing a research paper. You work so hard to get it right and then your teacher decides to practically laugh at it. You feel like crap. This sport comes from the heart and is a part of each individual performer in one way or another. Our pride and joy you could say. That should be taken into consideration.

As far as class goes, I didn't see much class portrayed in your post so do you really think that we are just going to sit here and take it? Like I said earlier, this is our life, our family. We will naturally get defensive because of our love for this. There is emotion involved in color guard. Whether it may be for our show or for the friends we make. I don't think that either should be put down. It's like if I said something about your momma automatically you would become defensive. That's is how I see it because that is how seriously I take guard.

You comments are definitely welcome, but I think they would be better if they were more constructive than critisism.
