I used to be in color guard, but I got out of it a few years ago.
So, story goes the other day I was thinking about the good old days, and some of the routines I could still remember, and it occured to me that I have completely mixed up some of the moves.

Most importantly i can't remember the difference between a double back and a double butterfly ( you can probably tell our team wasnt very hard core into it to begin with). And its driving me CRAZY.

I've looked all over the internet and I cant believe that there isnt any kind of site that explains the basic steps to a color guard routine or anything.

Could someone please help me out before i lose my mind?

So sorry, but I have no clue of what you're talking about...my guard doesn't do that. Where do you live?Lol maybe it's an eastern thing ^_^ just what exactly is a double back? Maybe that and the butterfly are the same thing....

Whoa .... I have never heard of a double back or a double butterfly. But that sounds like it might be push spins and double time spins.

what?

Guess I'm out of luck then.
I always knew that most of the moves we used in routines were made up by other guard members and passed down each year to the new members, but I thought that butterfly spins and back spins were standardized. I've found references to them on the web, but no descriptions of how they are performed.

I'm still surprized that there arent web sites explaining all this.

guess I'll have to track down some of the other girls and see if they remember....

A butterfly to me has always been... you put two hands on the pole right about where silk stops, and then you bring the silk end of the pole down past your feet in front of you and then back up to where you started. Then you bring the pole down past your feet behind you and then back up to where you started. And then you keep repeating those two steps. Does that make sense?
