Men's Color guard Shoes

Post by kellyvang28 » Mon Sep 28, 2015 10:25 am

What are some good colorguard shoes for my boys in color guard during the marching season ? I have tried letting them wear Dinkles like the band but it is not the best option. They need shoes that will help their dancing and footwork for the routine. Thank you. Reply as soon as possible.

My guard uses a very non-feminine jazz dance shoe, the Dance Class JS200. My 2 boys use the same shoe. I just buy it 2 sizes larger because that's the conversion for women's size to men's. It works, unless they're larger than an 11.5 in men's.

Dance shoes are made to be flexible and the look is not as important as comfortability and foot form fitting. Some shoes do look more feminine than others, so you may want to purchase a shoe that your boys will feel comfortable displaying, while still being uniformed with the rest of the guard.

The standard field show Jazz shoe looks like this...

A popular parade shoe is this (liked for its durability)

Meanwhile a more athletic dance sneaker looks like this

I like to buy dance shoes from a dance website like these for quality purposes, but you can also find them in marching band catalogs.

Make sure you get the correct color, black or tan!
