Would someone who has the info please post the start time for the first guard and, even better, the line up ... please???

Many thanks!

PS: My bad! It's not 3/21, it's 3/14 --- I so need a new calendar

This was sent to me by someone who got the "early" registration letter? The three times are warm up, stand by, performance. I'm judging and haven't gotten anything more updated than this at all...

I dont think Kennedy is going to compete at this review. The captain told me that they just started working on their show 2 weeks ago. I was at the Fairfield competition and they skipped out on it. and they're going to skip the CKM review this Friday, the day before Vallejo's review.

I didnt have any problems with parking. I got a spot right in front of the gym.
Peforming with that floor underneath was a bit weird. My girls were all confused about boundaries before we pulled the floor out. My only complaint with Vallejo is the size of the gym. I hate having to perform in that itty bitty thing

Sad to say that I will never take my kids back to Vallejo! Luckily we were prepared (via email from director) that parking would totally suck, and it did! Add to that we weren't given campus maps, spiel sheets (and so they had us fill out the "call out" forms for spiel sheets but then didn't even read them), and the middle school awards fiasco!

A lesson that was maybe learned here (I HOPE!) that everyone who puts on a show should consider: PLEASE make sure you are organized for the awards show! I was appauled at what happened with the major confusion, going out of order, skipping around, taking trophies back from people because you got them the wrong one, long pauses with people running back and forth trying to figure out which group or trophy was suppose to be next...it was just BAD. My kids were already devastated for not placing, but it was made much worse by the mass confusion. The awards were eventually over, and instead of them just being disappointed for not placing, they were disappointed and totally confused and didn't even know what happened.

I'll definitely be filling out the evaluation form, but I think this is something to remember for anyone who ever hosts a show. If everything else is messed up for the day (i.e. parking and stuff), at least try to get the awards part right.

Lesson I learned: it doesn't matter how big or heavy your floor is, it will STILL suck trying to refold it on a windy day! I thought the weight of our floor would help counteract the nasty wind outside, but I was wrong! Congrats to all groups that had to deal with that kind of fun and just took it in stride. I saw lots of kids chasing flying floors and equipment outside and they still smiled throughout.

Well in a way... about the parking.. you cant blame them for the nasty parking... Theyve always had a track meet on the day of the Vallejo Review, and I do not think it is possible to move the day of the review without clashing with another winter show... This year was just another review.. it was the same as every other year ive been there...

personally i like the "hecticness" [although i do understand your view on the organization thing..]...... haha

If the parking were the only problem, I'd be fine with it. I know those are things out of their control. However, there were just way too many other things that went wrong, especially considering the fact (and I didn't know this until the middle school director's meeting) that Vallejo has been hosting this for a number of years. All those kinks with maps, announcers, spiel (yes I know I'm spelling it wrong I think) sheets, and totally bumbled award ceremony are what did me over.

The good thing about yesterday: I think the judges feedback was the best I have heard in (my fourth year) doing this! They really stayed on their captions. I was especially impressed with equipment judge who did not say a single word for our first 40 seconds which was all movement. I've never actually had a judge stick to their caption so well! All three judges gave very general and very specific comments, suggestions for improvements, etc. I'm use to having at least one tape each show that usually just says, "We need to work on consistency from member to member" at least 20 times, but this time was different! Again, movement judge in particular (I have everything at school so sorry I can't say who it was) really nailed everything and had great suggestions for improvement, tiny details, though I knew some of them, others I had never even seen or thought of before. It really was a top notch, and kudos to those three judges for an outstanding job. I wish we had tapes like that from every show. I think it was either last year or the year before our best tape with the most ideas for improvement was from championships, and one comment in particular made me go (out loud) WOW, I wish I had known that before! It feels good to get feedback when there's still time left in the season to improve.

I wasn't able to make the show this year--the first time in 13 years.
To those who have been going to the show within the last ~8 years, the gym wasn't always so "small." The bleachers were actually bigger than that when I went to VHS. No clue why it was replaced with the smaller red bleachers, although I assume it has something to do with the basketball team.

Yes, there has always been a track meet on the day of the Classic, which only makes it worse with the parking. But the parking by Bottari gym is actually better than it was in the past (they repainted it).

I don't even know what to say about what I read about the awards ceremony, and director packets sent out without spiel sheets, and maps. Organization hasn't been great the past several years, and I see it's only gotten worse. ::sad panda::

Yeah the anouncement sheet was weird. We even crossed out the part where it said "Shout out" and wrote "staff" with our names next to it. Yet when we walked in the gym they still read it as, "We want to give a should out to the staff......" lol
Im done with Vallejo personally
