How do you beat time with 3/4? Or has anybody seen somebody do that in a solo competition before?

It has been done before.
Actually, there's an unofficial term for that...it's called "The Chad Humpal" (since Chad Humpal was the first to attempt a 3/4 beating of time).

Justin Paguio also did this back in 2000.
Maybe you can do a YouTube search on him and see if you an find anything.

If you perform it in NorCal, you may get positive points for it.
Anywhere else...I can't guarantee your creativity will be appreciated :-/

I've got a video of someone doing exactly what you are asking about...but I can't digitize it yet. If I can, I'll let you know.

Basically, it goes like this...
BEAT 1 - baton at top (like regular beating of time)
BEAT 2 - baton at bottom (like regular beating of time)
BEAT 3 - from beat #2, snap baton 45 degrees so a position that is located vertically between between the baton locations of beat 1 & 2 (but to the right)
BEAT "3 AND" - back to BEAT 2 position

So it kinda looks like a backwards "J" from your perspective.

Hope that helps!
