oh, i see. we use "fall out" for that, and when we're about to call attention, we have "fall in"

Fall out for my purposes means the rehearsal is over and students can feel free to do whatever they want/need. Until that they are still focused and need to be ready for instructions.

my school never responds. oh wait they do when we call a wrong command they reply "as you were sir."

if you were called to attention during silent command by the number and say the commands are left hace right hace about hace left hace right hace about hace about hace right hace... and the drum major says 3 are you aloud to say as you were sir or do you just stand there?

When the person giving the commands gives by the numbers, then the people execting the drills do it by step.. For example: "LEFT FACE!"

the band members stand there until they here the person giving command say "ONE!" then the band members go to step one of a left face. then "TWO!" then they finish off the left face. this could be tricky because they can trick you by saying ONE, THREE, so you have to be alert. Or they can also add a whole mess of drill to you and you'd have to remember the order.

i usually say hace... but i put face just in case people didnt get it..

I think I know what you're saying. You are asking about a 2-count stationary command in a drill down at silent response but wondering what to do if an improper instruction is made.

This is an instance where silent command would be null & void, since the commander is in direct contradiction/violation and it needs to be "called out" (in a manner of speaking).

It's not usurping authority, but a means to communicate that there has been a violation and further commands cannot be executed until the error has been fixed.

haha, we don't do left/right/about face either.
