2004 Marching Season Class 5A
Moderators: Trumpet Man 05, malletphreak, Hostrauser, instrumental director
Little Big Band from Anaheim....
Yes, I always taught the kids at Magnolia (the little big band) that "quality counts more than quantity." The Magnolia Band of the late 70's through the late 90's proved that time and time again. However, when those bands come along such as Poway, Mt. Carmel, Rancho Bernardo and Arcadia who had the "quality and the quantity" at the same time.... well, those were difficult to overcome - sometimes

I guess the reason 6A bands are always seen as the "best" is because they're bigger, so they get exposed more than the smaller bands. I've never really thought "bigger is better." I always prefer the small Hondas to the gargantuan Hummers.
Oy, I'm such a hypocrite... I am definitely gonna start paying close attention to whatever I say, write, type, etc.

Class 6a (Open Class)
In my daughter's sophomore year, in the BSR, the band competed in Class 6A. The major competitors seemed to be Chino and Etiwanda, well known and excellent marching units. The BSR did finish first when Chino or Etiwanda was not competing. Both of those units usually came out on top in direct compeition. The BSR was usually the smaller of the Class 6A in size. Hopefully any and all competitors in Class 6A this year will all be successful and enjoy the challenges and rewards that may lie ahead. Good luck to MV and all other Class 6A units.

Re: 5A bands
I'll be brave and say Flute1 IS wrong...but then I'd start to rant and rave again, and all one has to do is look up my previous rant about this illogical thinking...I'm not saying you are wrong but what reason do you have for this
