Can You Guess Who is in the Photos in the WOP Header?

I was reading a post in the Off-Topic forum and got the idea for a little contest. There are 6 photos used to create the header bar at the top of all the pages of the WOP website. How many can you identify?

From left to right:

#1 - ID Banner of what school at what event?

#2 - Baritone player from what school?

#3 - Drumline from what school and what year?

#4 - Colorguard member from what unit and what year?

#5 - Trumpet soloist from what school and what year?

#6 - American Flag used in finale of who's show in what year?

I'll check back from time to time and let you know who's guesses are correct and who's are a little off. Good Luck!

Well the only one I can even guess at is the banner is from Montebello, and odds are since Dave probably took the picture, its at Chino.

That one was going to easy to tell who, but it is not at Chino. In the full view you could see many palm trees in the background, does that give you a hint at the event that no longer exists. Opps, that's two hints for this old photo... oh man, now that's three hints...

Of the photos used in the header at the top of the page I only took one of the photos. Harvey took one, the Montebello ID Banner. Lee Bessey, the Camera Dude, took two, Champion Photo took one, and one is from an unknown source.

Yes the American Flag is from the Rubidoux Show, but what year? This is the photo that I took.

hints make it happen!

Your hints are tooo big Dave!

The palm tree parade would have to be from the All Western Band Review.

I believe the trumpet soloist is Mindy Cabral, from Thousand Oaks High School. (And she was a big competitor during the spring drum major competitions). The year is 1996. "Chess." Awesome show.

The baritone soloist appears to be from American Fork High School, from American Fork, UT. Was this their "Dvorak" show from 1994?

Okay, I'll play. #4 is from the Velvet Knights colorguard, photo taken on 8/20/96. Thanks for the hint Dave - it was pretty easy to find in the gallery, esp. since I started at the bottom! :)

I thought they would be RECENT photos Dave. I could not really tell about the palm trees, but aren't their also palm trees by the Del Taco on Riverside Dr where the Chino Review used to be? And there were also palm trees along Ocean Blvd in Santa Monica, where El Primero used to be.

I always thought one of the cool things about All Western was that it was such a permanent fixture in Long Beach that they actually PAINTED the competition signs on the streets. You could drive down there in January or June or whenever and right on the street was a big sign, "Competition Starts."

Too bad its gone.

OK, JCYS got #4 by looking in the gallery, cool. But nobody has got the year for Rubidoux and the American Flag.... hint... it's in the gallery too!

Yeah Jeff, I really miss the All Western too! I used to work the event, I was charge of the formation area for several years, including the year it rained and we had to go indoors at the area. Boy, that was fun?!?
