Axiss Entertainment Group - a Southern California based entertainment management company is currently looking for individuals who are interested in music to be apart of our opening team. Why post to the World of Pageantry discussion group? Because, who better understands music and what's "hot" than current music students!? There are many positions open and the minimum age is 16! If you enjoy checking out concerts (for free!) and meeting new people we encourage you to check us out.
Visit http://www.axissentertainment.com for more information, or email promoters@axissentertainment.com

Well...this sounds like a great oppurtunity for all...
Just want to point out to all the students here that this could be a fraud.
I'm not saying that it is here, but remember:
If it sounds too good to be true...it probably is!

As Former Marcher just said--I would like to add my 2 cents in on this. I have a special ability to sniff out fraud and "too good to be true" offers and groups that just don't sound right. Case in point, that wonderful entertainment conglomerate from "northern California" called Shockwave--promising the world, and dying without so much of a whimper. Anyway, when I went to the Axxis website, my B.S. meter started to react. Why?
First--in the ad it states "minimum age is 16". TO SCOUT OUT TALENT AT VENUES IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA??? I don't get it. I wouldn't want my son or daughter "scouting" out talent in music anywhere for a company...that...sequing into my second point...
Second--website has NO contact info whatsoever. Yeah, you can do their email form...that's cool. But no address, no phone number, no names, no history, no current client list, references, no nothing. That's when my B.S. meter started to ping.
Third-in thinking about the entertainment industry as a whole, the last thing that I would rely on for "scouting out talent" would be the opinion of a 16 year old. That's not to say that a 16 year old's opinion is not important. It certainly is. But NOT IN THE POSITION OF SCOUTING OUT TALENT. There are highly paid and successful people that have been doing this sort of thing for years that can sniff out the talent very well, thank you very much. Or sometimes they miss--take Britney Spears for instance. BLECH!!! In any event, if I need a 16 year old's opinion on music talent and new acts, I'll ask for their opinion and they can fill out a survey form for me, not scout it out at venues. So to this old fuddy duddy, this smells weird to think that in the industry full of questionable characters and highly paid professionals, why I, as a business leader, would want to hire 16 year old "promoters" and "scouts" and put them out into a questionable environment.
Now...Axxis may very well be legitimate, and my opinion of them could be all wrong. But BASED ON WHAT I SAW WITH THIS WEBSITE, I'm not entirely impressed. And based on my work in the public safety arena, I know there are MANY "legitimate" sounding businesses that pray on the young and impressionable with similar sounding offers as what is being put out here. Again, maybe Axxis is on the up and up, and for their sakes, I hope they are. But be EXTREMELY LEERY AND CAUTIOUS dealing with any company that provides SO LITTLE in terms of information.
Flashy websites don't equal success.
