Blue Devils 'B' first rehearsal!

Post by vinnieangelo » Mon Jan 12, 2004 11:29 pm

~Blue Devils 'B' 2004 news~

The first rehearsal of the 2004 season was a major success! 45 Percussion and 32 Brass musicians showed up to Glennbrook Middle School with great attitudes, ready to hear the news, that for the first time since 1997, the Blue Devils 'B' will plan on attending DCI Finals (in Denver).

New Corps Director (Rick Odello) and Program Manager (Charles Crisostomo) spent time in the hour long orientation, talking about plans and expectations of the members for the season. There was a VERY positive vibe (in the standing room only, multi purpose room) among the future members, and parents.

The music rehearsal portion of the afternoon went wonderfully for both brass and percussion. The drumline will continue to hold placement auditions through the month of January. The brass line had a lot of talented musicians in the horn arch. A record 6 Tubas showed up!

The music staff is back for their third year together. John Meehan continues to serve as Brass arranger and Music Director. Two of the bigger changes on staff, are that of Brass and Percussion Caption Heads. Shawn McElhany has moved into the role of brass caption head, and Vinnie Angelo has taken the position of Percussion Caption Head, and arranger.

Shannon Church is returning for a third year as lead battery technician. He will be assisted by, second year staff member Willie Meagher. First year staff member (and recent Blue Devils age out) Ryan Odello. And current Blue Devil percussion member Marco Nicola.

Lindsey Bazua is also returning for her 6th year on the BDB Color Guard staff, and 3rd as Caption Head.

The BDB will rehearse on Sundays, from 12pm-5pm at Glennbrook Middle School (Concord) from January-April. Brass spots are STILL available!!! Please look at the BDB website for more info.
