Anaheim Band Spectacular

Post by mkkorpsguy » Thu Nov 20, 2003 2:35 pm

Last night, the 41st annual Band & Pageantry Spectacular was held in front of 2,500+ fans at Glover Stadium. This show featured the bands from Anaheim HS, Cypress HS, Katella HS, Kennedy HS, Magnolia HS, Loara HS, Savanna HS, and Western HS. We also heard from the AUHSD Junior High Honor Band and the Band Spectacular Massed Band (the top 20 players from each school). Bill Schroeder served as the best conductor of the massed band ever! Anyway, congratulations to the great students of the Anaheim UHSD for the their dedication to excellence all season long. Also congratulations to rookie director Scott Dominguez of Anaheim HS-you're doing a great job! :D

Band Spectacular

It was great to see that all of the Anaheim bands have grown this year. Scott Domingues has helped put Anaheim High back in the game, and Brian Belski seems like a great fit with the Savanna band. Mike Gaughan also appears to be pumping up the Magnolia band in his third year there. Not many seemed to notice the 8 or 9 kids in Kennedy's band who left their horns at school, but you would've noticed if it had been Katella! Honestly, Gail Meredith gets more notes per pound outta the kids she does have, though - hang in there! Western had a really exciting visual program, and Loara's show was a lotta fun, as always (and what a drum line!) Watch out for that Cypress band - James Quirrion seems to know just what to do with the numbers he's getting.

It seemed to really make a difference holding the show in November - finished shows and better bands, and the jr. high kids could play!

One question: what was that dork in the audience doing with a guitar?!
