Interesting. A lot of the "next generation" of NCBA judges at this event. Five of the six band caption judges are still band directors in the NCBA (Zuniga at San Benito HS, Everts at Granite Bay HS, Alipaz at Leigh HS, Harper at Cupertino HS, and Christiansen at Golden Valley HS).

I will likely be there for Parade, but have no intention of staying for the Field Show. I'm interested at seeing how my scores match up with these judges. ;)

Addition

Please add Las Plumas/Oroville to that list on parade and concert.

Due to a mix up we were initially left off the list.

Rick Moffit is also still a director in NCBA at McQueen High School in Reno, NV.

Additionally...
Parade is a decent size...but field...TINY!

Looks like Foothill will probably take sweeps for both.

Thank you for correcting that.

Don't be so sure. I think Las Plumas/Oroville could top Foothill on Parade, and Madera is a long shot to top them on Field. I agree, Foothill will definitely be one of the main contenders on both, but I don't think it's automatic.

Likewise what Phantom said. Field may be a gimme for Foothill, but I'd have to say it's highly unlikely for them to win parade sweeps with Las Plumas/Oroville on the ticket, but who knows. God knows stranger things have happened in the NCBA.

True dat!

Post by clusknay » Mon Nov 17, 2003 8:13 pm

Indeed...maybe like Foothill taking guard this past weekend over...3 groups that were much more cleaner...and...had much better overall content to their design...not to say that these groups were flawless either by any means...but still...you catch my drift.

say...who was judging colorguard? and where did they happen to graduate from???

:-) hehehe

Forgot about Las Plumas/Oroville...

Foothill and LP/O should battle it out for street (I now will say LP/O on top, but who knows with NCBA judges)

Foothill should take it for field. Although the Visual for both Foothill and Madera never got completely cleaned, Foothill's spotless is spotless compared to Madera's marching mess.

I think what you meant to say was..."Foothill will win marching and music over Madera....and that's the bottom line. "

Unfortunately for the judges, both of the shows are a blundering mess...and someone has to be put in 1st...ahhh, the daunting task of the men & women upstairs...

Just wish the actual scores in NCBA would really reflect how horrific some of the show designs really are...seems to me...that a majority of the shows scoring above "90," therefore being placed up in "box 5" should probably be scoring under 80...but I guess that's a whole different thread to be started some other time...

Monica Fuentes judged parade aux. at Lincoln (judging panel is listed in the Lincoln Line-Up thread). Not sure who the other street judge was who also did field. Dunno where either is from....anyone know?

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Monica Fuentes last name Bettencourt a few years back. Monica Bettencourt was Foothill's guard instructor in 1999-2001.

Oh!

Post by clusknay » Wed Nov 19, 2003 9:37 pm

Now isn't that just amazing...a former Foothill guard instructor ...put her former guard above 3 other quality groups. Well deserved? Hmmmmmm...

By the way...Extreme level of sarcasm...

but this does create an interesting topic of discussion.

Lincoln vs LP/O

Post by dreams&jellybeans » Wed Nov 19, 2003 9:52 pm

Lincoln and Las Plumas/Oroville battling it out on the street this weekend? Should make for an interesting review this weekend...
