Rain for NCBA Lincoln competition (11/15)?

Post by Hostrauser » Thu Nov 13, 2003 2:40 pm

After the freak storm that hit the L.A. Area last night, it looks like it's NorCal's turn...

****************
SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SACRAMENTO CA
500 AM PST THU NOV 13 2003

...MORE WEATHER SYSTEMS TO PASS THROUGH NORTHERN CALIFORNIA BRINGING ANOTHER ROUND OF RAIN AND SNOW...

A COUPLE OF WEATHER SYSTEMS ARE FORECAST TO MOVE THROUGH NORTHERN CALIFORNIA OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS BRINGING RAIN TO THE LOWER ELEVATIONS AND SNOW TO THE MOUNTAINS. THE FIRST IS EXPECTED TO MOVE THROUGH THE NORTH STATE ON FRIDAY AND FRIDAY EVENING. LIGHT PRECIPITATION FROM THIS SYSTEM MAY BEGIN FALLING AS EARLY AS FRIDAY MORNING OVER NORTHWEST CALIFORNIA. THE SECOND SYSTEM IS CURRENTLY FORECAST TO MOVE THROUGH NORTHERN CALIFORNIA ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING. SNOW LEVELS WITH THESE COOL SYSTEMS WILL BE LOWER THAN WITH LAST WEEKENDS WEATHER SYSTEMS DROPPING TO AS LOW AS 3500 FEET OVER THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS ON SATURDAY MORNING BUT RANGING GENERALLY FROM 4000 FEET OVER THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS TO 5000
FEET FARTHER SOUTH.

A FEW TO SEVERAL INCHES OF NEW SNOW ARE POSSIBLE WITH EACH SYSTEM WITH AS MUCH AS A FOOT OF NEW SNOW POSSIBLE BETWEEN FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND SUNDAY. RAINFALL AMOUNTS DURING THE SAME PERIOD IN THE NORTHERN SACRAMENTO VALLEY ARE FORECAST TO REACH BETWEEN A HALF OF AN INCH AND AN INCH BETWEEN FRIDAY AND SUNDAY. ONLY A FEW TENTHS OF AN INCH OF RAINFALL ARE EXPECTED IN THE SOUTHERN SACRAMENTO AND NORTHERN SAN JOAQUIN VALLEYS.

IF TRAVELING INTO THE MOUNTAINS OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA FRIDAY OR THROUGH THE WEEKEND...BE SURE AND CHECK THE LATEST WEATHER UPDATES AND BE PREPARED FOR WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS.

Please note the part highlighted in bold. That applies to the Sacramento/Stockton region. Thus, it looks like Saturday's NCBA competition at Lincoln HS in Stockton shouldn't get too wet. Not like the Fairfield TOCs of the late 90s where you needed an ark to get out of town. :P

Yeah it came down hard last night. We're too spoiled with Southern California weather that we freak out cuz of weather like this.
