well i was able to see mt carmel and rancho bernardo's performances today for the street and it was pretty nice
i heard rancho bernardo's music while i was waiting on field and its musical effects were nice
well see you all next week at championships

Arcadia Scores

Post by altohack » Sat Nov 15, 2003 11:30 pm

^ Looks like .30 is mt carmel's unlucky number. They got beat on street and field by that much, therefore losing a place.

Any thoughts on the Bruins preformance?
Sorta sucks how people fell...
No regrets

My friends at UCLA told me they weren't prepared for the rain. I thought it was their usual performance. It was a long day for them cuz they played at their own football game against Oregon St.

Well, it was an awsome show. A few things I did not like, but I am nmot going to mention them. IF you really feel like asking me, PM me. Anyways, for the most part I really enjoyed the shows. It was one of the BEST competitions I have been to in a while. A lot of top notch groups, and a lot of great marching/playing. Congrats to all groups. I was proud of everyone. Good luck next week at Championships. I unfortunately won't be there, I have a concert.

PS- Arcadia, thank you once again for keeping this wonderful tourny going. You guys sounded great, and wish you could have been placed, cause it was awsome.

Wow, thanks Arcadia for hosting such a great event, I had a ton of fun there today!

Congratulations to all my fellow band/guard members. I'm way proud of you all!

Congratulations to Rancho Bernardo for taking home the most sweeps!

Congratulations to Chino for high percussion!

Congratulations Bonita Vista for sweeps in guard on street!

I think that’s everybody.

Well it was a way awesome competition despite the rain. I think it was the worst during awards, although some schools (including mine) got to perform in it. But it was only a light sprinkle by the time we went on. I loved seeing all the parents with umbrellas over their heads as we walked in, lol.

I thought UCLA was the most entertaining part of the night. Their visuals were so cool and I loved how they performed to the back sidelines. Hehe.
And we share our fight song, how crazy is that? Haha.

Love always hopes

Why not--you're anonymous. Just say what you didn't like. It's not like you're going to be hunted down or anything...

Mr. Tyrner, I know it is anonymous, but the comments I have are rude, and I don't want to be rude, and I do not want to sound biased. I enjoyed most of the shows, but I felt that some of the shows were, quite frankly, not good. Call me old fashioned, but I those are my feelings. Some of the groups, in mty opinion did not live up to their hype. But, Congrats to the all groups. You all did well, despit my opinion.

I don't care if you're old fashioned or you were born yesterday--if you have an opinion, you are not constrained to share. "Rude"? I would think that you could probably preface everything with the normal disclaimer blah blah blah stuff that I used to put out when my opinion was posted...but I sort of got sick of doing that. But just because you don't like what's going on shouldn't keep you from posting publicly...I for one would love to see your comments to see what you felt WAS lacking from the "hype" you've been hearing.

I would probably agree to some extent...without being there though it might be a tad hard...

But your choice...ultimately, I respect that...SO PM ME!! :D :D :D

I also want to thank Arcadia for hosting a fine tournament once again. I had a great time there (despite the rain). I also want to mention Chino fans/boosters; what a great bunch of people. The past three years I've been to Arcadia, I've happened to sit next to someone from Chino and they've always been fun, friendly, and respectful.

Congrats to everyone on street. Everyone looked and sounded great, and the competition couldn't have been more stiff.

Congrats to everyone on field as well. I was a bit surprised with some of the scores and placements, but everyone has their own opinion. Still, I had a great time watching all these groups.

And if anyone can answer this (I'd be greatful): why does Kennedy not have a colorguard for field show and does that hurt your overall field/general effect score?

Well it was a lot of fun performing in the rain. It was really cold but besides that I thought that we did good. Um.. None of us fell . I was really disapointed with the results but We still have another chance to make it happen
Congrats to the winners and Great show Arcadia!

CG is not a caption in SCSBOA...

Post by vore » Sun Nov 16, 2003 1:18 pm

Color Guard (Auxiliary) is not a caption in SCSBOA events. Renamed Auxiliary by SCSBOA a few years back, color guard is part of the General Effect caption (sheet) in SCSBOA Field Adjudication.

Does it hurt the overall band score by not having an auxiliary unit? Yes! Without a strong and effective auxiliary, the overall musical impact and/or effect is missing the visual impact and/or effect.

While auxiliary is a part of the total general effect caption, it is not by any means the "end all or be all" of the caption. However, it remains an intregal part of the total package.
