CALIFORNIA TO HAVE STATE-WIDE DRUM MAJOR CHAMPIONSHIPS IN 2018

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jan 29, 2018

LOS ANGELES -- Peacock’s American Drum Major Competitions and United Spirit Association (USA) has teamed up with the Northern California Band Association to host a drum major competition to crown a true state champion. Competitors will now be able to compete with drum majors from across the state in a one-day showdown. Any drum major who qualifies for finals in NCBA and/or Peacock’s will be eligible to compete.

The partnership has long been conceptualize, but never realized. “There has always been this idea floating around. We got the call from the guys at NCBA, and we just hammered it out to find a way,” says Commissioner Esteban DeLeon of Peacock’s.

NCBA shares the enthusiasm, and mentioned to DeLeon how ground-breaking this is for drum majors across the entire state. “We are so thankful to NCBA and USA as well for giving us all the chance to create something truly special for drum majors state wide,” continues DeLeon.

Southern California has long been a hotbed for strong and talented drum majors. Peacock’s has been synonymous for creating strong and talented drum majors, and that tradition has been picked up since their return, most noted by their recent collaboration with the Southern California School Bands and Orchestra Association. “In Socal, we have a lot of competition with other circuits. But our circuit is the only one in Socal that can provide competitors the opportunity to compete for a true California state championship,” states DeLeon.

Any competitor, regardless of their circuit, is welcomed to compete in 2 Peacock’s competitions to qualify for the California state championship. This will also qualify them for finals for the American Competitions (Peacock’s.) The show is expected to be hosted in early to mid May of 2018, pending on the venue locations, in Fresno, Calif. Sign-ups will be available by Apr. 1, 2018 at the latest on the Peacock’s American Drum Major Competitions website.
