Peacock’s American Drum Major Competitions

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Feb. 28, 2017

RELAUNCH OF NATION’S LONGEST RUNNING DRUM MAJOR COMPETITION CIRCUIT SET TO SHAKE UP 2017 SEASON IN CALIFORNIA

LOS ANGELES-- After a short hiatus, Peacock’s American Drum Major Competitions will return to the 2017 season with a relaunch of their historic brand. The company has released a tentative competition schedule on their website which includes educational clinics for new, aspiring and returning competitors. The organization, short-handedly referred to as “Peacock’s,” was the original and most participated competition series in the state. For over 30 years, they created arguably the nation’s best and most tested drum majors. Their tradition of producing formidable drum major’s and leaders can still be seen today - all of the other drum major circuits currently in operation are run by former competitors and champions of the Peacock’s series.

The circuit plans on redefining how competitions operate, including accessing certain prestigious public venues that most people only get to spectate at. “We’re pumped up for this. These competitions are going to be rigorous and demanding. We can’t mention certain venues we are in talks with, but they will bring an added flair and pressure,” said Esteban DeLeon, the Circuit Commissioner, “the support that is mounting for this massive return is incredible.”

There will be a clinic on Saturday, Mar. 11, 2017 available for any student interested in competing, preparing for auditions or simply interested in refining their craft. This seminar will include instruction from accomplished adjudicators about the circuit and include lessons in Military baton, Mace and Field Conducting. The clinic will be held at Emperor Elementary School in Temple City, Calif. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at a cost of $10 per student. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. Registration must be completed online at their website, but can be done at the school the morning of the clinic, so all walk-ons are welcome.
