Some Thoughts: On the whole, I was unimpressed with the prelims performances. Lots of bad performances today, even from bands that are (usually) great. Some shows stood out for me, though, like Desert Vista, Homestead, and Clovis West. The Los Osos kids crack me up, loading up on hot dogs, chips, and sodas at 10am a few hours from their performance.

Not optimistic on Ayala, Clovis West, or Vista Murrieta making Finals at Grand Nationals, then?

I was pleasantly surprised by Desert Vista's show. Very nice second movement. I agree with their placement in the top 5. Savanna I have never heard of before but their show was great as well. Upland seems to be a little underscored although their had a large tear near the end.

Congratulations to the new regional champions, Vista Murrieta! They were on fire last night. The last movement needs a little more work to have a real shot at GN finals though. Ayala and Clovis West put out very nice products as well but I feel Clovis West's design may hinder them at GN.
