I don't even think a computer statistics program could come up with a foolproof way of predicting the 4A competition here!...TOO MANY VARIABLES!!!!!!

So, ultimately predictions end up looking like the hopes of the predictors. :hum:

Sorry, but that's really how it looks.
Of course its not foolproof! But thats whats fun about it.
Tyler makes a good point at the beginning of the thread. Its his opinion and he is welcomed to it he didnt flame anyone just posted it. So here is my prediction same as it is for WBA finals.

ITS GOING TO BE COLD!

banddork04 wrote:Hey Tyler, I was just wondering if you have seen Etiwanda’s or El Toro’s shows this year. Because if you haven’t, it is really quite foolish to ignore previous scores where Etiwanda has beaten Ayala (in an SCSBOA contest) and considerably outscored them in the same week at BOA (albeit at different tournaments). Ayala has been the southern
California WBA heavyweight this year and by this deductive reasoning if Etiwanda has beaten Ayala before, and Ayala has beaten everyone in WBA, Etiwanda should beat everyone at a WBA contest. I know their your predictions and you are entitled to them but I just thought I would educate you on an easier way to predict bands that haven’t competed against each other yet.
sooooo.. because etiwanda beat ayala (in scsboa) they should win in wba... now what your saying is is that once youve ben beetin by a band you cant beat thgem later in the season?

I don't really understand why people are saying that it matters what class you're in, SCSBOA or WBA. They're both different in some ways but they all have on thing in common, they march and judge. Yes, they do judge different in both SCSBOA and WBA but the bands aren't really that different. Etiwanda's show and band are awesome in SCSBOA and Ayala kicks butt in WBA, you really have the top bands in both divisions competing this weekend and it'll be interesting who actually does come out on top. But it doesn't necessarly mean that Ayala's going to take the show just because they are a WBA band it all depends on how everyone marches and how the judges feel about each show and who deserves to take the show.

Good Luck to everybody at Trabuco, it'll be a good show!

No ryantenors, what I am saying is that a good band will always be a good band no matter how you judge them. I don’t think the whole circuit thing will have too much effect on determining the placement of the bands this weekend.

I do believe that the scores may be a little low though since Etiwanda goes on first, and judges (as good as they are) are often hesitant to give the first group in a division a high score without seeing the rest of the bands as to prevent inflated scores for the later bands.

That being said here are by predictions:

1. Etiwanda
2. Ayala
3. Mission Viejo
4. Upland
5. Fountain Valley
6. Poway

High Percussion: Etiwanda/ Mission Viejo
High Auxillary: Ayala
High General effect: Etiwanda
High Visual: Etiwanda
High Music: Etiwanda

etiwanda's show

I forget the title, but it is something about contrast and contradiction. They have tarps that make (I think) a tic tac toe board across the field. There music is very different and their marching is the standard Etiwanda type of difficulty.. In any case, it has scored really well this year

That, judging on the current weather, is probably the most accurate prediction yet. I have another one though:
Parking will be insane.

Thankfully you guys are splitting the awards ceremony this year. That should help with the parking and seating availability.

Honestly I think that upland will move up and be at least third because of last weeks score so hopefully it'll be an awesome show!! It should be interesting!!
