Thank you. It's a trek down to Chula Vista for your bands, but it's an experience the kids will surely remember.

Interesting line up this year, it's good to see this event grow once again (it was quite small last year). I do see some divisions a bit unbalanced though with this new system. No defending Sweepstakes champ this year (we miss you RB  ) but it's gonna be close between what I think are the two best parade bands in existence right now. I bet every guard is cursing the location change, as if competitions weren't windy enough for them.

Did this Bandreview take over for the Otay Ranch event?

yes, it is the Parade Band Foundation's own event. Us locals are not sure why the change was made, it might be the plethora of construction occurring along the original parade route and the surrounding area (one of the old warm up areas is having a jack in the box constructed right in the middle of it). The website makes it seem like the change was made to stimulate the economy of the bay front area. Either way, not many of the East Chula Vista area bands are thrilled about the location change (they need buses to the event now, where before they would just meet up). But to answer your question simply, yes, this event is more or less the Otay Ranch event with a new venue.
