Kudos to Hart Rampage Judges

Post by teacherken » Tue Oct 27, 2015 10:17 am

I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the judges at Hart Rampage this last weekend. While I obviously cannot listen to all of their comments, I think it's noteworthy that the "typical" judging scenarios of SCSBOA (and others as well) were noticeably absent, and welcome, in the judging that day. The common "Big Band big score; Little Band little score," early on penalty, etc. were not even remotely present.

Of course, it causes havoc with the grid, but that's a whole other post.

Nice! It's nice to see the little guys getting properly recognized. Quality over quantity should always factor in (though sometimes it's impossible to separate when it comes to effect).

Can you explain a little about the "judging scenarios"? Can you give some examples? Thanks!

If you think the little guy never gets the proper credit, you've ignored the likes of Bellflower, Los Angeles or Colony these past few years. While I know that short list doesn't include several noteworthy small groups, these 3 always stand out.

Well designed and well rehearsed groups often beat up on the bigger guy despite size.

Kudos to Hart Rampage Judges as the thread title should be changed to "watch out, back handed compliment coming your way."
