Nope. Duane Otani announced it this summer.

Jimmies were rustled.

But, he's the band director, the decision ultimately is his.

I heard from an instructor at RB that the reason for this is the school has switched to a trimester system (3 trimesters of 4 classes) and that the Poway district is trying to get all of their schools on a similar schedule. I believe Mt. Carmel and Westview both use 3x5 schedules (I have also heard that this is what prevented Mt. Carmel from competing in the 6A championship).

Probably more a result of SCSBOA 6A Championships taking over the Arcadia Field Show.

Mt. Carmel's school system is divided into trimester so the school year is divided into 3 sections. Westview and now RB have a quarter system. This means RB won't have a lot of time rehearsing for parade.

I completely understand it's the directors choice, but I'm so sad that Rancho Bernardo will not be competing on the street. Over the years, I've seen some outstanding performances from that band. They will be missed!
