What is everyone's predictions and/or favorites for this Saturday?

My favorite bands would be RK, RB (I love March of the Women Marines!), and Mt. Carmel (especially for field). Glendora has had very good runthroughs of Voice of the Guns. DB has a high chance of taking parade sweeps; they have very good music, they just need to clean their marching. Their guard is awesome too.

I think the top military drum majors could be RK, DB, and South El Monte. As for mace: Glendora, Kennedy, Mt. Carmel. Rooting for Garey and Diamond Ranch as well.

Prognostications for 6A Field

Sweeps - Mt Carmel, (Band, Aux, and high music, possible visual)
1st place - El Dorado (high visual sweepstakes likely)
El Dorado has some tricks up their sleeve though so MCHS has to really bring it. nobody will be "mailing in" a performance on Saturday.

followed by Rancho Bernardo, Chino, Riverside, and Mira Mesa...
can't rank these accurately having seen only the southern half of the bands.

looking forward to it!

I honestly believe it should be DB or MC I am leaning more towards MC just because of their clarity in their playing, truly the best loyal legion I've ever heard.

For field the way I see it totally has to be MC they've just been so consistent with getting higher marks. And you may be wondering what about RB last years winners, well with their show being a much tougher one I would say they have a less chance looking at their scores. Although it is a good show it won't be enough for RB but they can still surprise us that have several days.

Some good contenders are Chino and El Dorado.

My educated guess for 6A:
(Threw in Arcadia just for kicks)

Parade
Riverside King
Rancho Bernardo
Arcadia
Diamond Bar
Mt. Carmel
El Dorado
Chino

Field
Mt. Carmel
Arcadia
El Dorado
Chino
Rancho Bernardo
Riverside King
Mira Mesa

Combined
Rancho Bernardo
Mt. Carmel
Arcadia
El Dorado
Riverside King
Chino

I think the scores on the street will be higher and have more of a spread, so whoever comes out on top has a good chance to take overall sweeps.

Regardless of the outcome, it will be a great show and a preview of SCSBOA Championships. Should be a fun night in a great venue.

I think Diamond Bar has the potential to come out as the sweepstakes winners as long as they have a solid performance, which they have had for the past four band reviews. I'm really rooting for them because they have the entire package this year, with a powerful yet clean band in both marching and in music, a great drum major, and great choreography for the colorguard.

Hmmmmm...

This year has been very different. To be honest, setting aside from who I think should win, the scores will most likely be in class AA

Sweepstakes Band
Riverside King/Diamond Bar - 95.65
Riverside King/Diamond Bar - 95.60
Mt. Carmel - 95.40
Rancho Bernardo - 94.90
Glendora/Chino - 94.30
Glendora/Chino - 94.25
Henry J. Kaiser - 93. 70
El Dorado - 93.20
John F. Kennedy - 92.80
Daimond Ranch - 92.50

Music
Riverside King - 483
Mt. Carmel - 481.5
Diamond Bar - 480
Rancho Bernardo - 478
Chino - 477
Glendora - 474
El Dorado - 470
Henry J. Kaiser - 469
John F. Kennedy - 465
Diamond Ranch - 463

Also, I do think some class A and B bands will be placing higher this year such as South El Monte, Montebello, Arlington, and Loara I'm looking forward to see them hopefully placing higher closer to AA class bands.

Personally I really hope King or Carmel takes sweeps for certain aspects especially musically, they have their issues to work out like everyone else but they are the two bands most likely to sound the best.

This is just a guess... I honestly, no clue what will happen, this is my most unbiased guess from what I just listened to and watched on YouTube for the past hour.

O'Well :D

I'm sorry to chime in on this thread but I'm terribly saddened that Gretchen A Whitney has vanished from the parade scene. Whatever the reason, I want them to know that I appreciate seeing them on the street.

I was going to say the same about Whitney. What gives?

I agree about how unfortunate it is for Whitney to not appear on the street this year. They have a wonderful guard, consistent drum majors, and a great sounding band. I hope they return to the parade scene in the future.

Thanks for the support! The students decided that Marching band did not work well with their incredibly high work loads at school. Whitney High School is the number 1 school in the state, and was ranked the number 4 school in the nation this year.

A return to marching is not out of the question, but not currently in the cards.
