San Marcos was amazing! Great visual package and their percussion could compete with 5a/6a's. Very entertaining all around. I couldn't believe how well their guard moved ladders all over the field.
Los Angeles had a unique concept (mannequins) and had a solid performance despite some music issues here and there. Best Guard of the night.
Charter Oak played very well, which is why I was surprised by their music score. Guard was very good as always, but their GE and Visual was not on the same level as San Marcos & LA. Still a very enjoyable show to watch though.
Hm....I really liked Tustin's "Temptation" concept. Lancaster framed their band inside the 30's and it worked surprisingly well. Santa Margarita did a very cool Gladiator/Spartus type show.
Overall I was very impressed by the level of performance and design talent amongst the 1a's. Some very good things happening with these smaller groups!
