Probably the worst kept secret on WOP this year.............yes, Golden Valley's Cardinal Regime has graciously accepted an invitation to compete in the prestigious Arcadia Festival of Bands this November 16th.

The kids and their director, Mr. Vasquez, are eagerly anticipating another trip down south this fall. And a big thank you to all of our "So Cal" friends that helped make this happen.

Well Cardinal Regime, most of us who are active on this forum are a little more informed (dare I say, nerdy?) than your average, um, "band nerd" :nenr:

So it should be of no great surprise that most of us knew about GV's upcoming competition in this year's Arcadia Festival of Bands. Which should definitely be exciting!

But for some of us, it was as clear as looking at their schedule 8-)

I've heard they will be in the top division with Riverside King, etc.

Exhibition only? Like their last appearance at the Loara Band Review, Roll Away Bet isn't on the "list." It would be interesting to see them judged and scored against their competitors. Then again, they would have to modify their routine to conform to the other SCSBOA rules...

The marching band scene in NorCal and here in the south definitely have their own flavors. I suppose the judging and rules set by the circuits have something to do with it. Then again, northern and southern California sometimes seem like different states!

Wow, I stand corrected. I was looking at an old downloaded copy of approved marches.

Thanks, Luis. I guess they are competing!

A big thank to the Arcadia Festival of Bands committee and to their director, Mr. Sherrill, for the invitation to the Golden Valley Cardinal Regime. The GV kids, staff, and parents all had a wonderful time and were equally impressed with the organization of your event.

Thank you again.

And another thank you to Luis, a.k.a. Music213, for his dedication to the Marching Band arts and for his passion to bridge the Northern California and Southern California marching band organizations.

Thanks Matt. It was such a treat to have the Cardinal Regime come down to SoCal and put on a very enjoyable performance. Great seeing you again and meeting your band booster president Jim and of course getting to see and chat with Mr. Greg Christiansen.

Glad to hear you all had a wonderful time and an overall great experience. Hopefully we get to see the cardinal Regime come back to SoCal in the near future.
