I'm still trying to figure out how somebody could have all the scores for all the placements EXCEPT first place? How does something like that happen? It could be an interesting story....

Del Oro does not remove the Parade or Field Sweepstakes winner from the Class Placements at the awards ceremonies. The first place winners' scores are not announced to provide "drama", as all 1st place class winners are (theoretically) in the running for Grand Sweepstakes until the award is actually announced. Thus, Granite Bay was BOTH 1st place Class AAAAA AND Field Grand Sweepstakes winner. It's been a tradition at this competition for at least 20-25 years, as they were doing it this way even back when I marched.

So yeah, until you get the recaps, you have no idea what the 1st place scores are because they're never announced.

Very excited to see the El Capitan program expand within the next few years with the addition of Juniors and Seniors. I'm sure they'll be giving some of the top dogs up here a run for their money!
