A Great Seasons Ending Performance

Post by JLGORMAN » Sat Dec 22, 2012 9:52 pm

Fox Sports this evening televised nationally the UIL 5A Division 1 State Football Championships from Cowboys Stadium In Arlington, TX. The halftime part of the game featured the Performance of the 615 member Eagle Escadrille from Allen HS. The Band received 5 minutes of time on TV, more than any other Bands that were televised during the 3 day 9 Game State Championship weekend in TX. This was the final marching performance for the year for the Eagle Escadrille who performed at halftime of all 16 Allen Football games along with performances at UIL Regional and Area Marching Contests and the Plano East Invitational. The game drew a stadium crowd of 48,379 to the Large Schools ( 5A Division Championship) along with a national television audience. The Eagles won the game vs Houston Lamar 35-21 and won their second state championship in 5 years finishing at 15-1. A happy christmas present to all the Allen community.

Too bad there isn't a YouTube of that performance available, at least not yet. However, I did find a link to the Allen High School Escadrille UIL 5A Marching Contest 10/27/2012 performance here:

I wonder how they looked performing on the new $60M stadium at Allen HS.. Too bad the performance is during daylight. I'm sure it looks even better under the lights.

Their is a you tube of the first halftime show done at their new stadium when they played South Lake Carroll. The Band did a precision drill to Eagle SQuadron by Alford that night which was most impressive. They dwarfed the 250 member South Lake Carroll Band that night.

Allen is in UIL Area B for State Marching Contest and this is the area of death. This year the top three marching Bands at the State Marchning Contest , 1. Marcus, 2 Hebron and 3 LD Bell all came from Area B. Even though they have a great Band they face tremendously good Bands in their area for the chance to advance to State. To their great credit, they march their entire Band which I think speaks highly of their program.

During a discussion on the Yellow Board about Allen, the listed an interview with the director of the Eagle Escadrille in School Band and Orchestra Magazine. I think most will find it most interesting and it explains in detail their determination to march as many kids as possible. Next year the Band will be over 750 total.
