Most Underrated Band This Year
I'd like to take the time to mention a high school band I saw this year that I really enjoyed, and yet they probably didn't get the credit they deserved for their field show production:
La Quinta High School Blackhawk Brigade, from La Quinta, CA.
To La Quinta I say: Well done! I very much enjoyed your show. If I am at a band show next year I hope to come across you guys again.
Thank you.
Alan

Re: Most Underrated Band This Year
I think we should all take a moment to do this.
For me, it was Buchanan H.S. from Clovis, CA. Saw them at the BOA Glendora Regional. I thought they had a very unusual (in a good way) and intriguing show design, quite a bit different from the by-the-numbers shows that hit all the standard GE functions as if marking off a checklist. The execution wasn't there, unfortunately, but I definitely appreciated what they were attempting to do.

Hi, I am a senior student at LQHS and I have to say thank you for the recognition. We are a school out in the middle of no where and it makes me happy as well as the rest of the band to see people who really enjoy what we do. So again, I say thank you!

Re: Most Underrated Band This Year
Unfortunately, I have not been able to make any shows this year, but I will give my favorite band from last year, which was Westview.
I believe they played Appalachian Spring, which is a bit of a calm, understated show, but man, musically, they really did it for me.
It's good to see they had another successful year, although, I must say, I'm rather saddened by the lack of white pants this year (It's always nice having a friend in the white-pants-wearing department.).

Hard to say that a Jeff Stratton band is underrated, maybe underappreciated.............but, I thought Jeff did a fantastic job this year with the Las Plumas/Oroville Alliance.
