Ask your band director...

At this point the only people who know are probably the head judges at each site and perhaps SCSBOA's office staff who have to organize everything. To my knowledge it is not yet common knowledge...or I didn't get the memo. The only thing I know at the moment is who is going to be head judge up in the box, and who is going to be on the track putting bands onto the field....Neither of which really has any effect on the scores (unless there are penalties which I highly doubt at Champs).

Weren't the panels posted last year on the website when they posted all the maps and such?

If people haven't seen it yet, the scsboa site has been updated to have the director's packets online....at least for 2 of the 3 sites. There is a page in there that lists who the judges are, and what caption for those inclined to care.

There are some heavy judges here from out of the SCSBOA. John Miller is director at BOA perennial American Forks HS, American Forks, UT. Trent Newton, I believe, is former director of the Golden Valley Crimson Regime. Andy Cook is Asst. Director at Carmel HS.

Pete Jackson has judged for the SCSBOA before. He was director at John W. North HS and I believe he is or was director at San Clemente HS. Neil Anderson is also an SCSBOA regular and is director at Murrieta Valley HS. Bran Peter is director at Westlake HS.

I don't know Melissa Samson, but she's on the WGASC Board. Caleb Rothe is a VP for SC-PA and is an instructor for Ayala HS and Impulse.

If I'm wrong about any of those, y'all are welcome to correct me.

What little I know...

Warren Torns - Head Judge, Adjudication
Former band director at Mt. Carmel H.S., San Diego, CA, now retired. His bands won dozens upon dozens of SCSBOA Sweepstakes awards. Member of SCSBOA Field Adjudication Steering Committee.

Tom Cole - Head Judge, Logistics
Former band director at Rancho Bernardo H.S., San Diego, CA and, before that, Mt. Carmel. His bands won dozens upon dozens of SCSBOA Sweepstakes awards, including an incredible run at Arcadia. Member of SCSBOA Field Adjudication Steering Committee.

John Miller - Music Performance
Band Director at American Fork H.S., American Fork, UT. Multiple time BOA Regional champion and BOA National finalist.

Trent Newton - Music Performance
Band director at Warm Springs M.S., Murrieta, CA

Andy Cook - Music Effect
Associate director of bands at Carmel H.S., Carmel, IN (2012 BOA National Champions)

Pete Jackson - Visual Effect
Band director at John W. North H.S., Riverside, CA. Formerly at... John W. North (this is his second "tour of duty"). Member of SCSBOA Field Adjudication Steering Committee.

Neil Anderson - Visual Performance
Band director at Murrieta Valley H.S., Murrieta, CA. Formerly at Vista H.S., Vista, CA.

Brian Peter - Visual Performance
Band director at Westlake H.S., Westlake Village, CA. Member of Blue Devils instructional staff.

Melissa Samson - Auxiliary
Teacher at Kraemer M.S., Placentia, CA. WGASC board member.

Caleb Rothe - Percussion
Percussion instructor and arranger for Ayala H.S., Chino Hills, CA and Upland H.S., Upland, CA. Also instructs/arranges for Impulse Drum and Bugle Corps.

As with Daniel, if any of this is incorrect/out-of-date, post a correction.

Caleb is actually no longer teaching Ayala or Upland. Instead, he is the President/co-founder of SCPA, and is the Director of Education for WGI Percussion. He has also been a recent member of the WGI Percussion Steering Committee, as well as a member of the board of directors of WGI. Basically, he's awesome. :-)

Trent Newton was the director of the Valley View Crimson Regiment in Moreno Valley back when they were competing with the top bands like Etiwanda, Thousand Oaks, Mission Viejo and James Logan. See example at YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AYTQSg2Bwg

Pete Jackson is at John North now (for the 2nd time) and previously was at San Clemente, John North (for the 1st time) and Chino (just before Doug Bowden and after Jeff Stratton).

For reference, here were the scores from the 1999 WSMBC (now WBA) Championships, where the above video was taken:
96.98 James Logan HS
95.94 Mission Viejo HS
94.72 Valley View HS
94.24 Thousand Oaks HS
93.64 Etiwanda HS

Pretty select company. Great show. I also loved their 1997 show (Stargate/Independence Day).

I had forgotten how huge their guard was. Guard's about 50 members strong in that video.
