WBA Championships Rain plan 11/16
Dear WBA membership,
Due to the weather forecast being predicted for this WBA Championship weekend the Executive Board has decided to do a 1 day championship format for all groups. All IA,2A, & 3A bands will be competing on Saturday at Koligian Stadium in a one day tournament of champions. All 4A/5A will be competing on Sunday in the same format as the 1A,2A, & 3A. After each class has competed we will have their class award ceremony presentation. After the class awards, we will be asking groups to leave the site in order to create more room for other competing bands to park and warm-up. At the end of each day, we will be announcing the top 15 bands of the day. We will also be posting that information on our WBA website. The time line for the 1A,2A, & 3A bands will remain the same as originally scheduled, but the 4A & 5A schedule has been up-dated for Sunday. Please see the website for the new times. Maps and director information will be sent out shortly for Sunday. Please stay posted for updates. Thank you for your understanding and know that the decisions made by the board is what we felt is best for our students, staff, parents, and equipment.
Respectfully,
Mark Stone, Esmeralda Rocha Lozano, Jon Grantham, John Hannan, and David Lesser

Re: 2012 WBA Championships - change due to the weather
I'm beginning to think there's some universal law against WBA Championships happening when it's not raining.
If there is a plus side, I think the powers that be in WBA really stepped up their game last year in dealing with the conditions, and I think they'll be pretty prepared this weekend too. And I don't think we'll see the downpour that made last year's morning show so rough, though perhaps I shouldn't speak too soon.
Good look to everyone braving the elements to perform this weekend. Hoping, as always, for clear skies and a full lineup.

WBA did step it up and made a quick decision not waiting for conditions to improve, because conditions usually don't improve. Smart move protects the performers and helps spectators plan accordingly.

Truth is not a theory..

A better move might be to choose a stadium wih a turf field...
