Re: SCSBOA Recaps
I wonder how this year judge scoring works. Seem a bit confusing to me right now. Does anyone have an idea?

Re: SCSBOA Recaps
Oh and thanks Mike for posting up the recaps.
Re: SCSBOA Recaps
There is a column on the recap that states how it works.
All sheets are 200 points, which become 100 points.
The music performance total is worth 45% of the total score
The music effect total is worth 20% of the total score
The visual effect total is worth 15% of the total score
The visual performance total is worth 20% of the total score
So... 45% music, 35% general effect, 20% visual.

Re: SCSBOA Recaps
Definitely going to take some time to become accustomed to the new system, particularly in setting goals for score increase in captions. I know I use to be able to look at things and think "ok, I want a ____ in music by thenext show" but since the numbers are all different I'll have to adjust my parameters.
I'm most interested to see how the changes to General Effect take shape. I use to notice that judges weren't always the best about scoring General Effect as a whole and would often only talk about music, or focus heavily on design elements more than performance execution or a litany of other variations. I'm curious to see how these changes will shape the season.
As usual thanks to Mike for his hard work getting recaps up quickly for us obsessive score followers.

Re: SCSBOA Recaps
It seems a bit confusing until you actually see the sheets -
Music Performance for instance:
100 points for: Sound & Tuning including tone quality, pitch, blend and balance and Technique including: attacks, releases, articulation, rhythm, tempo, pulse, and technical proficiency.
100 points for: Musicianship including phrasing, expression, idiomatic interpretation and dynamic contrast.
200 total points DIVIDED by 2 gets you a Music Performance score BUT then you multiply that score by .45 (or 45% of the final score - the computer recap program does this automatically).
Each of the other sheets have have different weighted factoring.
The director is given a complete printed breakdown of their band's score, etc. They will also continue to get a complete recap of the event (refer to Mike's original post, above).
Hope this helps a little.

Mike:
On my iPad and desktop the scsboa google calendar is completely blank on the website. Perhaps the magic cookie got reset in google-land and data is not pulling?
Is it just me?

Re: SCSBOA Recaps
Also, is there any way to get older recaps. I really liked before when the 2010, 2009 etc recaps were on the calendar just by going back to previous year's events.
