They were given out at the earlier awards ceremony (along with the parade awards), which I did not attend.

Whoa, those are some wacky results... I guess I'll leave you guys to sort it out in the morning, but... Arcadia beating Poway? On the field? I know I'm new here, but that seems like a pretty major upset to me.

Not to mention the point spread from competition to competition today, but I guess that this page isn't the best place for that discussion.

It's certainly new. The most recent record I can find of Arcadia beating Poway was from this same tournament in 2008, although all I can see is that Arcadia's combined review/field score was higher than Poway's (it was close; if I had to guess, I'd say Poway probably still won on the field). Since then, nothing. Poway's won on the field every time they've met. I guess things have changed again.

it might also be worthwhile to take into account that Arcadia competes on the street and on the field while Poway is field only. Congratulations to both schools for an exciting performance!

Honestly, while Poway is a powerhouse field band, I feel a disconnect with their show this year. Something is not clicking.

Arcadia, on the other hand, has an aggresive, in-your-face show that is exciting and just plain awesome. Love them this year.

Perhaps it is an upset, given that Poway has been very strong on the field for the past several years. Last night however? Arcadia outscoring Poway didn't surprise me at all. Arcadia's show had the most energy of the evening, and the students performed it extremely well. I feel that Poway's musical selection this year is not that interesting, and the theme isn't as strong as it has been in the past few years.
