That is not true. The SCSBOA has not direct role in inviting the bands or establishing a lineup. That is why they are not technically a circuit. The event host coordinates and designs the event, including which bands are selected and creating the lineup. The SCSBOA provides the adjudicators and the standardized competitive and eligibility rules for the event.

Getting the lineups posted on the SCSBOA website is as simple as sending the lineup to the SCSBOA office. The lineups generally appear on the calendar pages as a link to a pdf document, the same way that the results are posted. If the event host does not send the lineups to the SCSBOA office it is not SCSBOA's responsibility to request that information. The new website, maintained by a very able Mike Gangemi with the help of Amy Mack, has become a wealth of information, but as with all websites, the information posted there is not a result of some psychic ability of Mike and Amy. Just as Dave struggles to get lineups and results for this website, the SCSBOA still struggles to get that kind of information from competition hosts. I am certain that if event information you are looking for isn't there, it is because the event didn't supply it. Even then, there is a listing of all the events and the event contact person and telephone number. If the information is missing, it is only a phone call away. The ONLY marching events that the SCSBOA is directly involved in organizing and publicizing are the three SCSBOA Field Show Championships.

My review of the 6A class on Saturday.

Rancho Bernardo - show title "Bound" (a la Avon 2009 Con-Uniform-ity). Musically, RB delivers in usual and dramatic fashion: Samuel Barber's Symphony #1. Trumpet feature/ run in the opener  ; needs clean up this early, but wow! I'm a huge fan of Rob Jett & Co., so was surprised (and saddened) that he is no longer with staff. Colorguard seemed to be lacking the energy and panache they've always brought to the stage. Hard not to compare to Avon's show, so would like to see more movement/ visuals in the overall package to match the group's playing ability. Presenting a 2/3 completed show hurt GE and ultimately overall score. Maybe play the rest of the music in place next time? Excited to see a more completed/ polished product at Poway in two weeks.

Mount Carmel - show title "Cartoons, ..., & Luallabies". I believe the opener is Cartoon by Paul Hart? A light-hearted, fun and whimsical show. Great entrance onto the field, skipping and hopping, keeping with the theme. Wonderful sound from the ensemble, especially during the "big band" portions. Didn't understand the use of the chairs during the ballad, so maybe that'll come together in a few weeks. Colorguard seemed to have a disconnect in energy from the band. Congrats on presenting a completed show  and a much deserved sweeps.

Vids are posted on youtube.
